Somebody from the Sheffield Hallam Rugby Club has contacted me to let me know that their 2008 calendar had just been released.

I have not done it, I am merely sharing the information with you : the first screencaps from the 2008 DVD of the Dieux du Stade (Gods of the Stadium) are already circulating all over the internet.

This DVD shows the French rugby players being photographed in the nude by American artist Steven Klein.

French Engineering Students Naked in Rugby Calendar

A friendly e-mail tells me that there is yet another calendar with naked rugby players, that of the French air and space engineering school called SUPAERO.

Our nice students seem to how to have fun in a calendar as well as on the field!

Just like the Dieux du Stade 2008, the players of the Shanghai Rugby Football Club and the Shanghai Hairy Crabs will be launching their naked calendar in a few days.

On October 25, the calendar will be released. The proceeds will go to an NGO helping out Chinese children living in the streets.

South African Rugby Players Forced to Endure Naked Training in Freezing Water

Right before the 2003 Rugby World Cup, the Springboks (the national rugby team of South Africa) were caught in an incredible scandal. After this, all senior managers of the rugby team were sacked.

In order to foster teamwork, the managers of the South African rugby team submitted their players to strange physical training.

These very rare photos show some of the things that the Springboks had to go through:

- Cross an ice-cold stream, naked, while hanging to a raft
- Stand in the water, naked, at night, for hours, while singing the national anthem
- Jump fully clothed into the water, from a helicopter, 30 feet high above the water level.

All this happened in a military camp called Kamp Staaldraad ("Camp Barbwire").

For the 2007 Rugby World Cup, the training was less brutal and the team has now made it to the final game (against England).

Sergio Parisse ! The Italo-Argentine rugby players, who plays for the Italian national rugby team and the Parisian Stade Français, can be seen stark naked in the 2008 edition of the Dieux du Stade calendar.

But you do not have to buy the calendar to seen him naked: just watch any of the games that he plays.

Dear Sergio Parisse has a tendencey to lode his shorts during rugby games. Witness the pics here , from a game against Ireland and another one against Japan.

Maybe Sergio should wear underwear. Or not. You decide.

Sébastien Chabal is a player that scares the s… out of quite a few players.

Chabal will face the English team this weekend. He knows a few them quite well: Chabal plays in the UK, for the Sale Sharks. His nickname is Seabass.

Here is the picture that very francophile Sun published this morning. Its tiltle was "French Monster Eats Babies".

Well, in the meantime, the English team is busy rehearsing a scene that they will play after meeting Chabal: healing their bruises an ice bath (see picture).

England France Rugby: Initiation Rite Gets Rugby Players Running Around Town Naked

This morning, I heard on the radio that the bus that was dring the French Rugby Team to the its practice fiels was caught in a massive traffic jam. Should our Dieux du Stade walked instead of taking a bus?

This reminded me of a video of a respectable English rugby club (Lincoln RUFC, established in 1882) where new players had to go through a funny initiation rite: they had to undress, get out of the bus, and run back to the club house. To make it more fun, they obviously has to do it through town.

Notice how fast the first one is going. This is a guy you want to see on a field.

Every TV crew should know that you start filming in rugby locker room, you get more than you asked for.

In this case, TV caught a player amusing his friends with a little trick of his involving his genitalia (see video).

Funny, but the player is now embaressed and the TV crew got fired. Oops.

Manly Sea Rugby Player Gets Caught Swinging It

Manly camp last night called on the Rugby League Professionals Association to intervene – calling for all television cameras to be banned from dressing rooms until 45 minutes after fulltime. wide exposure for winger The vision, shot when Fox Sports interviewed Manly’s Steve Menzies after the grand final loss to Melbourne, ended up on internet broadcast site YouTube.
While Menzies is interviewed by a journalist after the NRL decider on September 30, Robertson can clearly be seen in the background swirling his genitalia. Fox Sports believes Robertson was unaware of the camera being nearby and has apologised to Manly. The broadcaster screened the interview before spotting the offensive vision and taking it off air. Fox Sports employee gets sack But a Fox Sports employee then emailed the footage to a friend, who sent it on to YouTube.
That employee has since been sacked. Robertson denied he knew the camera was on him, saying: "I’m highly embarrassed for myself, the club and my family. "Somewhere along the way, a player’s privacy has to be respected. "I would have thought the fact that it wasn’t a live interview would have ensured the broadcaster involved would have ensured I wasn’t filmed in a compromising position. "There has to be a period where the dressing room is a player’s sanctuary. "There is no way the skylarking was meant for the cameras."
Call for player privacy Sea Eagles chief executive Grant Mayer said players must have dressing room privacy. "Michael was clearly unaware the camera was on him and surely there must be responsibility from the broadcaster – as well as the player – to maintain some sort of privacy," Mayer said. "Obviously cameras in dressing rooms are part of our game, but surely players should be able to shower and change without it being broadcast internationally. "One option is to make the cameras wait 45 minutes before they are allowed in. Another option is having an interview area away from the showers and dressing rooms. Michael is embarrassed."
Fox Sports director of specialist channels, Soames Treffry, said his company was disappointed the interview had been aired. NRL director of media and communications John Brady said Robertson had "no knowledge" of being filmed. "There has to be an element of shared responsibility around dressing room access," Brady said. "The players have to be aware of this, as do the TV crews."
