Dieux du Stade 2008: a calendar shot by Steven Klein
The 2008 Dieux du Stade (aka DIEVX DV STADE or Gods of the Satdium) was shot by American photographer Steven Klein.
Photographer of sportsmen, Madonna and fashion
This American is a very trendy photographer. Recently, he has taken shots of David and Victoria Beckham that made headlines worldwide. You can count on him to capture the essence of great professional sports players.
Steven Klein has been following Madonna for years now. When you know the importance that she gives to how she looks and to how her ever-changing appearance has to impress her audience, you can imagine that he's better be pretty good at taking pictures.
Finally, he has also shot numerous ad campaings for brands such as Calvin Klein, Gucci, Trussardi, Roberto Cavali, Bally, Furla, Air France, and Alexander Mac Queen.
An expert in provocative pictures
The Steven Klein style is embodied by provocative pics, which let surface human sexuality at its rawest. For instance, his pictures of Brad Pitt in a short Greek skirt (taken while fiming Troy) remain engraved in many people's memories.
Watch in the video below various examples of his great work. (this article continues below the video).
Rumor says that the 2008 edition of the Dieux du Stade calendar will be less homo-erotic than the previous year. I think that it will be true, as a lot of criticism fell on the 2007 calendar when it was made public in late 2006. It was deemed too sexualized, even trashy.
Yet, with Steven Kein at the helm, I think that this calender will not be wholesome Hallmark material either.
